Use & legislation

Is CBD a drug?

No, because CBD is not considered a psychotropic drug.

Are there psychotropic effects?

No there are no psychotropic effects and no addictive effects with any of the CORELL products: i.e. it does not cause feelings of drunkenness, dizziness or euphoria, characteristics associated with THC and more generally with the recreational use of Cannabis.

Not only does CBD have no psychoactive effects (it does not induce a “high” feeling), but it can even counteract the psychotropic properties of THC, especially those related to anxiety. Indeed : too much THC consumption can generate negative effects (what would be called a “bad trip”), even panic and paranoia. However, the sedative attributes of CBD affect the effects of THC, particularly anxiety attacks. So it’s an excellent relaxer.

Are there any side effects ?

According to all studies, scientific reports and consumer testimonials, Cannabidiol is POSSIBLY SAFE when taken orally or sprayed in adults : An overdose of CBD is very unlikely, a study of “Current Drug Safety” indicates that a dose of 1500 mg per day has no negative effects on humans or animals. Even in high doses, CBD has no influence on physiological parameters (heart rhythm, blood pressure and body temperature).

Pregnancy and breastfeeding : There is not enough reliable information on the safety of taking Cannabidiol if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. As a precaution, avoid its use.

Parkinson’s disease : Some preliminary research suggests that taking high doses of Cannabidiol may worsen muscle movement and tremors in people with Parkinson’s disease.

Are there any interactions with drugs ?

Not recognized to date unless you are taking medications that are degraded by the liver, talk to your doctor before using CBD. A decrease in the dosage of your treatment may then be necessary because Cannabidiol may, according to some studies, decrease the speed with which the liver breaks down certain medications.

What is the purpose of the presence of THC in CBD products ?

According to studies conducted by Washington psychopharmacology professor Celia J.A Morgan and her colleagues, when THC and CBD combine, an “environment effect” occurs. This means that both THC and CBD substances improve the positive qualities of each other. For example, pure THC can cause anxiety and stress, but when combined with CBD, many consumers experience relaxation and a rise in positive sensations. CBD has been shown to improve the anti-pain properties of THC. At a low rate, the presence of THC does not produce psychotropic effects but activates the “surrounding effect”.

Remember that the THC content contained in our products is maximum 1% and does not engage any psychotropic effects but benefits from the positive “effect of entourage”.

CBD (Cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid considered non-psychoactive, and has been studied for several years mainly in the fields of medicine and more particularly in neuropsychiatry. During this research, and based on consumer feedback, relaxing, anti-stress and analgesic effects have been reported.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is also a cannabinoid, but this time is considered psychoactive. Like CBD, it is studied for its medicinal properties but remains considered an illegal substance in many countries, including France; mainly because of its addictive power and the psychotropic and euphoric effects it causes in the consumer when consumed at a high rate.

When we talk about salivary, blood or urinary cannabis testing, we are actually talking about the THC substance, so tests are done to detect possible traces of THC, but are not supposed to react to the presence of CBD. Hence the importance of buying pure and reliable products so as not to take any risk of traces of THC such as CORELL products.

I am an athlete and I compete, can I pass the anti-doping tests ?

The World Anti-Doping Agency (https://www.wada-ama.org/) announced that it had updated the list of prohibited substances and the CBD was removed from the list. As MMA star Nate Diaz explained in 2016, Cannabidiol is used by athletes for its anti-inflammatory and muscle-relaxant properties without having the psycho-activity of THC. CBD in the sports environment is used as a reference dietary supplement in physical preparation and recovery.

Are there clinical trials and scientific publications ?
If so where to get them ?

To date, more than 140 gold-standard clinical trials exist that examine the safety and efficacy of cannabis or isolated cannabinoids. In contrast, many FDA-approved substances are subject to far fewer clinical trials involving a much smaller number of patients before obtaining market approval. In fact, according to a 2014 analysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the median number of pivotal trials (or key trials) conducted prior to FDA approval equals two , and more than one-third of newly approved drugs are put on the market on the basis of a pivotal study only.

The study was published in the scientific journal Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry.
